putting an automatic in a 426 hemi is like going to a titty bar with a pocket full of food stamps, whats the point

Building a 455 Buick with 450 HP and 500 LbFt of torque is pretty easy, but 700 HP takes a lot more work and a lot more money. I’ll message you a link to a 721 HP build up that Popular Hot Rodding magazine did.

i have a 1973 boat tail riviera its at the shop getting restored it has a 455 but i want to rebuilt it and make it go 700hp what would have to put on my engine to give it that much power?

  10. RamblinAround says:

  21. NDallas40 says:

Huge fail on this car was keeping the automatic. (Even though the torqueflite was highly effective). It just doesn’t sound right, especially under max acceleration. At least they didn’t put 20″ rims on it, so it does have some value. JK…..lol

  22. zxtenn says:

Surprising, most likely a crate motor, 700 HP is some serious power for a street car without a doubt. I hope at least frame connectors are in place, unibody needs support with that kind of power, only problem is doing burnouts is a serious offense now, before it was nothing.

  23. RamblinAround says:

It was actually de-tuned down to 700 HP. It produced far more, but they changed the cam, intake, and carb to make it a bit more streetable.

  24. zxtenn says:

Nice but i doubt it has 700 hp unless some serious internal work? Looks like a crate motor and would make any Mopar fan smile regardless, could be 700, some of those crate motors are potent

  25. RamblinAround says:

Yeah, I think this would get the job done. Thanks for taking a look!
